Individuality
What Would We Wear If No One Else Was Around
What would it be like if we were all complete individuals
To live in today’s world is to be exposed to media constantly; to feel like you have to fit in in some way or another. But what would the world be like if we were all unique? What would happen if we had no outside influences and we made all of our decisions purely based on personal desires and dreams?
How would we spend our time if we had no obligations? It would make no sense to spend time on an activity we don’t care about. Meaningless work projects would no longer be an obstacle. Would there be any wasted time if we were by ourselves? Wouldn’t you want to spend every waking moment doing something meaningful to yourself instead?
What would become a priority if no one gave us directions? Would we finally work on all those projects we set aside? Would we build a new foundation for ourselves from the ground up? Without orders to follow, all of the time would be ours. There would be no more excuses. All of the time spent would be on us and whether we wasted it or not.
What would we spiritually believe in if no one was around to share their views? Without organized religion, what godly figure would we talk to — if any? Would they have a name? Would they have a gender? How would we describe it and would we even need to? How would we choose to connect with it on a day-to-day basis?
What body-type would we want if none were criticized? Would we want to be strong and lean? Or would we be okay with gaining a little weight? Part of the desire to lose weight comes from outside opinions being pushed on us. If we felt healthy, why would we change our bodies?
Who would we be if we were able to live life secluded? Would we be peaceful? Or harmful? Would we naturally have hatred towards certain objects and ideas? What makes a person who they are? Does it have to do with community or location? Wealth or status?
How could trends exist if we all lived our own lives? What would we be like if we didn’t have the desire to be “cool”? Would we ever come across someone who looked just like us? What if one day we encountered someone wearing the same shoes as us. Would we be happy or upset? Would we crave looking like others in the way we do now? Or would we want to make personal clothing and pave a unique way for ourselves?
Can we ever live in a world where there can be individuals in a crowd? Are we meant to have a pack mentality, or be secluded? What if our dependence on others was no longer essential? What if we got more out of being alone than in being surrounded by others all doing the same thing.
Who would we become if no one was looking? And is it possible to be that person now?
